So what does all this mean?

We research our suppliers to determine if they are manufacturing locally or abroad. If they are produced locally we can quite often verify for ourselves the working conditions. If they are manufacturing abroad we want to know if they are operating in accordance with fair labour practices as defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The purpose of this is to assure ourselves that the workers who are producing our goods are receiving a living wage and have their basic human rights respected. This is not an easy task as there is no directory of “good” or “bad” manufacturers. We contact each of our suppliers and ask who is producing their products. Unfortunately at this time there are no mandatory disclosure guidelines. So in some cases we have to rely on the good faith of our suppliers. Others have specific information that they are more than happy to impart to us. It’s an ongoing process to achieve these goals.

By saying that we are a transparent company we invite you to ask us about our products. We will tell you where they come from and who made them. And if you can tell us something we don’t know about any of our suppliers we would be interested to hear about it.

In short -We buy from suppliers who treat their workers fairly. We invite you as a consumer to buy “clean” clothes.
